Admission in University of Cambridge

Admissions:

The universities of Oxford and Cambridge are the two most selective institutions in the UK. For Cycle undergraduate, which leads to obtaining a BA (Bachelor of Arts) or BSc (Bachelor of Science), it is not possible to raise its bid for two universities. De facto, no English student in study at Cambridge in the absence of being admitted to Oxford and vice versa.

Since the year 1960, the admission process is based on meritocracy and is subject to a triple selection process. Applicants must submit their academic records and recommendations from teachers.

After a first selection process,they are invited to oral interviews to test their motivation and academic level. Level “undergraduate”, the final admission is contingent upon candidates for the equivalent of the baccalaureate. The equivalent of a pass with distinction,the “AAA” rating to A-level candidates is required. For a francophone student, a highest honors of the French Baccalaureate or college Quebecers is required.

Moreover, in recent years, directors of studies of certain technical fields such as mathematics require that applicants pass a specialty exam. There is nevertheless a clear discussion of the admissions process of universities in Britain and one wonders if students from public schools have enough chances to be accepted, the difference in level between these institutions and institutions of the English system is often relatively high private.

Student assessment

In the UK university system, the level of a student is not judged only in relation to the establishment in which he studied. At Cambridge, as in all other universities, students are indeed classified into 4 classes ( 1st,2:1,2:2 and 3rd ). Students classified as having the first two classes (“1st” and “2:1″) are considered the brightest. This ranking is crucial when graduates seeking employment.
