Bangor University was founded in the late nineteenth century by the need to improve the higher education in Wales. Although opened in 1884 as the University College of North Wales, Bangor in 1893 became part of the three original colleges of the University of Wales. Today is Confederate institution, as an autonomous, it can offer its own degrees.

Due to its small size, the Bangor campus is walkable, so transportation costs decrease significantly. Bangor is located between the four campuses of the country cheaper in terms of cost of living (cost of accommodation, meals, transportation, etc.).. The estimated cost for one academic year is £ 3.521 for undergraduate students and £ 4.561 for graduate students.

Accommodation: varies substantially by type of accommodation. The accommodation in the university system of self-catered Standard ranges between £ 55 – £ 60 per week (£ 2,400 per academic year), while in Self-catered en-suite will be spending £ 80 a week (£ 3.120 per year). Students who prefer private accommodation spend half £ 50 – £ 55 per week (£ 2.145 per academic year).
