Coinciding with the celebration of the Bienal of Flamenco in the capital of Seville, Seville University has organized a series of courses to expand knowledge on this musical style. One of them is entitled “Four Flemish emotions” and is presented as: ” An introduction to flamenco focused on four basic styles of this art, in terms of four basic emotions. A theoretical and practical workshop in which, based on literary, metric, rhythmic, harmonic and melodic seguiriyas, joys, and tarantas soleares, we will approach to anger, joy, melancholy and fear flamingos. 1) Become familiar with the basic elements of flamenco, musical and literary, as it relates to the emotional expression of the performer-creator flamenco.

2) Assume how, through the flamenco techniques , are channeled emotions and creativity for the sake of artistic expression.

3) Distinguish between each of the four basic styles of flamenco.

4) Introduce participants in the main stanzas of literature used in flamenco.

5) Getting into the basics of flamenco rhythm and harmony .

6) Understand the basic geography of flamenco to identify the styles of this art by area of ​​origin and their development in Andalusia, Murcia and Extremadura.

7) Become familiar with key historical interpreters of flamenco.


Those wishing to attend the course must complete the registration formalities entering the website of the Cultural Initiatives Center at the University of Seville (CICUS). The training will take place over 25 hours of mid-September. The days are distributed as follows: 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25 and 26 September 12 to 14 hours. On September 27 the course schedule will be extended by one hour, and lasted for 12-15 hours.

The registration period is open until 31 August. The course has a maximum of 25 places are awarded in order of registration and delivery thereof in the offices of CICUS.
