Description:
Louisiana State University (LSU) was established in 1860 and has become a flagship (FLAGSHIP) for other universities in the U.S. It is located in the capital of Louisiana, Baton Rouge, which has little sense of place, but at the same time, big-city energy. With over 400 festivals throughout the year, there is always something to do in the city.The institutional program includes 72 college courses, 72 diploma programs and 51 doctoral courses, public service and high quality teaching. The University consists of 9 institutions and 3 schools, more specialized centers, divisions, institutes and offices, all on a campus of 2000 acres. It offers courses in education, science, engineering, communications, agriculture, music, social work, business administration and so on.
LSU offers many social activities for students, including over 23 sports clubs and 300 student organizations, means that there is at least one club to meet all the needs of each student. The University is proud of its 34 different fraternities. These groups work with the University to help achieve the objectives and goals of the organization and has contributed more than $ 170,000 to the local community.LSU has a lot of media, including KLSU FM, radio station, Legacy Magazine, LSU News, The Reveille and Tiger TV.
Admission Office:
Each applicant must submit the application to the University to determine if the student can go through an assessment process. It is considered the subjects were studied during high school and emphasizes the following areas:
-Notes
-The number of modules to courses in science, mathematics, English and -foreign languages.
-The average of all courses taken during high school.
-Leadership skills.
-Special talents.
-Recommendations for secondary school teachers.
Along with the application, the applicant whose native language is not English, you need to be tested for TOEFL (Test of EspaƱol as a Foreign Language) and submit a score of 550 or higher. However, there are exceptions if the student has passed: the U.S. diploma and went to school in the U.S. for 4 years, a college course in the U.S., or if the applicant has a score of 20 on the English section of the SAT.
With the application, students must present official documentation of their academic courses, TOEFL scores and official SAT / ACT, a bank letter showing their financial situation and a medical certificate. In addition, all students entering the University have to do an English test before enrolling in the University.
Accommodation:
LSU offers four areas of residence on campus and another 4 in smaller schools and all different styles. The residents make the transition from school to college easier, because all have teachers to help students both in school and in university life.
East Campus Apartments :
offers space and privacy for students. Are located a short walk from academic buildings, sports and recreation center and student union. The apartments have private rooms and shared suites, all have telephone service, television, Internet access, laundries, kitchens and lunchrooms. There is also the Power Building Activity, which provides more space to study, perform various activities, games room and staff who offers his help.
Nicholson and Edward Gay Apartments :
Because of the ideal site of the residences, there is a waiting list to live here. All apartments are furnished and each has a stove and refrigerator. All bills are included in the rent. (These apartments are only available to students who have more than 22 years, graduate, married or are single parents.)
Residents Halls and Apartments:
LSU has 19 houses of different styles. There are two different types of residences: traditional and modern. The traditional rooms are more common in older homes. They have higher ceilings and furniture you can arrange as you wish. The rooms are modern in newer homes. They have air conditioning, are smaller and have fixtures. All residences have kitchens, study rooms and laundries. Most buildings have computer labs. All rooms have telephone lines and television sets. Smoking is prohibited in all residences.
West Campus Apartments, are located near the Quad, the stadium and recreational buildings. There are private rooms, but all apartments include telephone service, Internet access, laundry and kitchens with microwaves and ovens. Each apartment has a bedroom and a kitchen. In the building there is space for recreational activities, programs and games room.
If you want to go to LSU, but do not want to be in a big university, there is the possibility of joining one of the schools smaller college where you can take advantage of a more intimate community. Here, there are 5 smaller homes with fewer people.

Scholarships:
A limited number of scholarships for international students. To apply, each student will automatically be considered for financial aid. LSU have very high criteria for international applicants and only the best students receive scholarships.

The International Cultural Centre (ICC) offers cultural, educational and social services for international students.
