Founded in 1910, The University of Queensland is one of the oldest and largest universities in Australia. Particularly in the science sector enjoys the University of Queensland an outstanding international reputation. It belongs to the concentration of the Group of Eight, Australia’s eighth largest research universities and is proud of a Nobel Prize winner and several famous Australians among its graduates. In 1998, the UQ by Good Universities Guide has been elected to the Australian University of the Year.

In the areas of Molecular Bioscience and the UQ Marine Biology is a pioneer in the Asian region. The marine biology department maintains a research station on the Barrier Reef.

Campus:

St Lucia campus is the main campus of the University of Queensland. It lies about 7 kilometers from Brisbane’s CBD. Ipswich and Gatton are 40 or 80 kilometers southwest of Brisbane and are easily accessible by public transport. At the Herston campus medical teaching and research facilities are stationed.
