Notre Dame is ranked among the top 25 academic institutions in the nation in surveys conducted by U.S. News & World Report, Princeton Review, Time, and Kaplan / Newsweek. Hispanic Magazine has ranked Notre Dame in its list of top 25 universities for Latinos. Time magazine ranks the University as number 63 in 2010-11 in its list of the best universities in the world.

The University’s academic excellence stems from its faculty. Teachers honored at Notre Dame have won 42 National Endowment for scholarships Humanitas since 1999, more than any other research university in the nation. Twenty professors from Notre Dame, including the current Rector John I. Jenkins, CSC, and Director of the Kellogg Institute Mainwairing Scott have been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the best teaching academies in the nation.

At Notre Dame, education always has been linked to values, including community service. Approximately 80 percent of Notre Dame students engage in some type of community service during their years in college and at least 10 percent is dedicated to service for a year or more after graduation. With the new vice president of internationalization, the University also focuses on study and have links worldwide. Notre Dame is ranked in eighth place among the great research universities in the United States in terms of percentage of undergraduate students studying abroad.

Admission to the University is highly competitive, with five applicants for each new student’s degree. In addition to academics, Notre Dame is known for its beautiful campus as well as its long tradition of enthusiastic support for athletic programs. The University is located in Notre Dame, Indiana, near the city of South Bend and approximately 90 miles east of Chicago.
