University of Chichester

History:

The university has a history dating back 1839, when a training school for “masters” was installed in what is now the campus of Chichester, known as the University of Bishop Otter. In 1873, the campus became a training institute for women teachers. The men were later admitted to university in 50 years. The second campus, in Bognor Regis, was opened as a teacher training institute emergency immediately after the Second World War in 1946.

University of Chichester

In 1977, the two universities were merged to form the West Sussex Institute of Higher Education (WSIHE), with the grades they receive close CNAA and later University of Southampton. Between 1995 and 1999, was known as Chichester Institute of Higher Education. He earned grade-assigning power in 1999, being known as the University of Chichester University and has been recognized as a full university in October 2005.

Campuses:

The main campus of the University of the alley, Chichester is known as the Bishop Otter Campus, named for the former Bishop of Chichester, William Otter. The campus of 38 acres is based around a number of buildings, including new learning resources concentrated in Artone and a center of research activities and sports.The campus in Bognor Regis, is based around 3 Georgian buildings – the St. Michael, Chamber of Mordington and the dome, along with a number of more modern buildings.

The university also offers a limited selection of courses through the little towns in the House of Arun, in Horsham and also a base on the Isle of Wight. Students at the base of Horsham are often required to attend one of the main campuses on a regular basis.
