The reputation of its teachers has placed the university among the top ten in the UK, according to independent studies, and medical and veterinary schools are among the best in the country.
The university has three campuses. Located in the trendy West End of Glasgow, just three miles from the bustling city center, is the Gilmorehill campus, where they concentrate most of the schools and departments. The second campus, Garscube, houses the Vet School and offers sports pitas outdoors. Finally, the Crichton Campus is set on the outskirts of Dumfries in southwest Scotland.
The facilities at the university combines the tradition of its oldest buildings (of great architectural and historical value) with the integration of new information technologies. But not everything is to study, this institution also offers various entertainment options and an active social agenda. For this there are two students’ unions that have services for all students. The Hetherington Research Club is one of the most popular.
Accommodation:
The university has its own hosting service(Residential Services)which provides information and advice about the different types of accommodation available for both undergraduate and postgraduate. Most freshmen opt for student residences, due to the benefits they offer and their proximity to the classroom.
Besides accommodation in dormitories many students prefer to share or rent an apartment. To facilitate this Glasgow University offers students a database which sets out the alternative private accommodation, information and tips on the rent for the apartment search does not turn into an ordeal.
If you decide that you prefer to live independently, know that we must begin to look for apartments as soon as possible, especially if you just want an apartment or a house with one bedroom. Most leases are for six or twelve months, making it very likely have to pay your share while you’re on vacation.
