The International Students Organization ( ISO ) at the University of Maryland at Baltimore was established to encourage interaction between international students on campus.The objective of ISO is to create a context in which all international students to meet with Americans and be involved in various types of social activities, to create a culture of sharing and friendship.
Normally the majority of the activities are open to all and must pay a minimum registration fee to cover the expenses of the various activities organized.To become a member of the ISO you can send an email to iso@umaryland.edu or contact any member of the executive committee, providing the name, email, school or department and country of origin.
Financing:
To get financial aid from a federal, state or institutional, students must have one of the following requirements:
-U.S. citizenship (native or naturalized);
-U.S. Nationality (includes natives of American Samoa and Swain’s Island);
-Permanent residence in the United States on a visa type I-151, I-551 or I-551C (Alien Registration Receipt Card), a passport with a stamp certifying the I-551 status or form a seal certifying the I-551 status.
-Temporary residence with a I-688 Card
-Eligible noncitizen with an INS form type Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) with one of the following options:
*Refugee
*Being on probation for an indefinite
*Having political asylum or humanitarian
*Haitanos Cubans that have been pending
Students with the following visas can not enjoy financial support from a federal, state or institutional
-Student visa (F1 or F2), student visa exchange visitor (J1 or J2), international visa Visas G-Series
-Non-citizens who have only I-688A or I-688B Cards
-Non-citizens who have only an approval notice (Notice of Approval) to apply for permanent residence (I-171 or I-464)
-Non-citizens who have only Family Unity Status (Form I-797)

The federal, state and institutional includes: Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunities Grant (SEOG), Federal Stafford Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, Federal PLUS Loans, Federal Work Study, State Grants from the Maryland Office of Student Financial Assistance, University Grants.International students graduate assistantships can enjoy.
Loans for International Students:
Many companies offering loan privately Private Education Loans to students with a reliable guarantee that a citizen and permanent U.S. resident. Loans are certified by the university, and we recommend talking to a guardian of the financial aid office.
