The University of Miami was founded in 1925 by a group of citizens who felt the need to establish a high-level institution for the development of their community. The period of prosperity in South Florida was at its peak, there were many resources, optimism dominated, and the promoters of the university wanted to encourage the development of inter-American studies, humanities and tropical climates.

In autumn 1926, when the first 560 students enrolled at the University of Miami, Florida’s economy suffered a total failure.The college survived thanks to the diligence and determination of its first president, Dr. Bowman F. Ashe (1926-1952). Under his administration the University of Miami was able to overcome bankruptcy, reorganization, a world war and the postwar years, achieving growth and expansion.

Today, the University of Miami, is a private non-sectarian institution, which has more than 15,200 students, who frequent approximately 150 undergraduate courses, 130 masters and 60 doctorates in two professional areas of study. Students at the University of Miami are from the United States and over 110 foreign countries.

The University of Miami is certified by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and by 21 professional licensing agencies. He is a member of the American Association of University Women, the American Council on Education, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Association of American Colleges, the Florida Association of Colleges and Universities, and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

Admission:

The criteria for admission to the University of Miami are selective. They usually admit students who demonstrate academic ability, personal integrity, professionalism and high goals.International enrollments have a U.S. diploma or IB Curriculum must submit the Scholastic Assessment Test I or American College Test.

All international students whose native language is not English must submit Test of English as a Foreign Language ( TOEFL ) unless they do not have the diploma from a U.S. academic institution or any English speaking country. In the following links to get more information:
