History:

The institution opened in 1947 as part of the University of Birmingham Department of education, working as a university teacher training of emergency. In the 70 Council for the national academic awards (CNAA) validated the degrees for the University of Worcester higher education. Herefordshire and Worcestershire University of Nursing and Midwifery was absorbed into the group in 1995. In 1997 the Privy Council has given the institution can – assign powers and was later known as the University Worcester (UCW) University. In 2005 he became fully-fledged university.Thursday, April 10, 2008, Richard Prince, HRH the Duke of Gloucester, was officially installed as the founding chancellor of the University of Worcester in a ceremony at Worcester Cathedral . In this role, the will of the prince officiated at ceremonies and events important degree, as well as promote the overseas universities.

Continual development:

In 2005, the institution has announced plans for “a superlibrary” in the heart of Worcester, creating a university and joined a public library – the first of its kind in the United Kingdom. This will be a center of history together and libraries operating in conjunction with the Worcester City Council. A second campus is also under construction at the old Royal Infirmary in Worcester on the castle. The work begins in January 2007 and will be completed in two phases. First, the demolition of unrequired buildings and construction of corridors of the student and secondly the construction of new buildings and renovation of the Jenny Lind Chapel and the room where the General Medical Council was established. The university is home to the company’s resident theater applied, C & T.

The programs are also underway to build new residence halls and a new research building on the campus of St. Johns.In 2008 the University of Worcester has received “the best social university” as part of the national tour of sport in spite of Lloret De Mar was one of the smallest universities in the country.
