Widener University
History:
Founded in 1821 as a preparatory school for boys in Wilmington, Delaware, the legislature of Pennsylvania in April of this year has given the institution now known as Widener University moved to Pennsylvania in 1862, and powers and college privileges via universal charter. It was known from 1892 to 1972 as Military University of Pennsylvania, although he had officially become the University of PMC in 1966 as a co-educational and non-military component was added. In 1972, Widener University name was adopted after the forward Widener family of Philadelphia, and cadet forces fired ( Army ROTC program still exists). Graduate programs were introduced in 1966 and School of Law acquired in 1975.In recognition of its comprehensive offerings, Widener University became Widener University in 1979. Today, Widener is a four-campus university offering over 80 programs of study.

Widener University is a private, coeducational university located in Chester, Pennsylvania.Its main campus sits on 108 acres (.44 km ²), just 14 miles (23 km) south of Philadelphia. The university has three campuses: two in Pennsylvania(Harrisburg and Exton)and an inch Wilmington, Delaware.About 3,300 undergraduates and 3,300 graduate students involved in Widener in eight degree-granting schools. The University offers associate,license,master,and doctoral degrees in areas ranging from traditional liberal arts to professional programs.Widener was founded in 1821 and has undergone several name changes. He was known as University of Pennsylvania military after 1892, and adopted the Widener name in 1972.The base of the Carnegie classifies Widener as a Doctoral University/Research and Development of Community engagement.
Campus:
Widener is comprised of four campuses, the main campus in Chester, Pennsylvania, more campuses in Wilmington, Delaware, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Exton, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1866 after the school moved to Chester, 108 acres (0.44 km ²) main campus consists of 97 buildings and serves all day students of undergraduate students as well as of University College. It also contains all graduate programs (business, education, technology, nursing, social work, physical therapy, and clinical psychology) except the school of law.
Opening in 1976, Campus of Delaware consists of 16 buildings across 40 acres and is 12 miles (19 kilometers) from the main campus. It contains the School of Law (shared with the Harrisburg campus) as well as the Institute of Legal Education. Some classes for university students and university business graduate students are also held here. The 21-acre Harrisburg Campus, opened in 1989, contains the School of Law (shared with the campus of Delaware) and graduate programs in nursing and social work. Beginning in 2004, Exton Campus is the newest Widener campus, located in a business park 25 miles (40 kilometers) from the main campus. It serves mainly students of University College and contains Widener’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), which provides continuing education programs for adults removed.

College of Arts and Science :
The largest school undergraduate at Widener provides 25 commanders and 26 minors in its three divisions: Humanities, Science and social science. The university is also home to pre-professional programs in medicine and law. All undergraduates in the university fulfill general education requirements in all three divisions as well as taking an interdisciplinary conference of values during their junior or senior year. The university consists mainly of programs undergraduate programs, although some of the master there (including MPA and MALS programs). The commanders of undergraduate most popular university are psychology, criminal justice, computer science, biology, communication studies, politics and government and English.
School of Business Administration :
School of Business Administration program provides undergraduate in management, accounting, and economics as well as graduate programs in information systems, administration of business, financial planning, and human resources. The school has recently updated its MBA program is accredited by AACSB.
School of Technology :
The school offers ABET – accredited programs of undergraduate in chemical, civil, electrical. Electric. and mechanical engineering. He recently presented a minor in bioengineering. Master (MEng) programs exist in all the same areas in addition to computer and software engineering . A duel MEng / MBA program is also available with the School of Business Administration.
School of Hospitality Management :
One of the earliest schools devoted to hospitality management, the school provides undergraduate(BS)and get a degree(MS)study in areas such as management of hotel and resort, private club management, tourism, and casino operations and gaming Its facilities include fully equipped kitchens production and demonstration as well as a restaurant, the Heintz Dining Room, open- you to the public. Institute for the game and packaging, established in 2007, is the latest effort and provides research and educational programs for employees in the casino and packaging industries.
School of Human Service Professions:
This school is a collection of professional programs in education, social work, clinical psychology and physical therapy. It includes the following academic units:
Education Center:
The center provides programs of bachelor, master’s and doctorate in education in a variety of areas including elementary education, special education, educational psychology, human sexuality and school administration. The center serves as the home of the only nationally accredited doctoral program in human sexuality, having acquired the program from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999.
Centre for Social Work Education:
The center provides the bachelor(BSW), master (MSW) and doctoral programs (PhD) in social work.
Institute for Clinical Psychology graduate:
Founded in 1970 near Hahnemann University Medical School, the program moved to Widener in 1989 and went well with the Institute for Clinical Psychology graduate. The institute houses the second oldest PsyD program in the United States. The PsyD program is accredited by APA and allows a variety of concentrations including family therapy, forensic psychology, and organizational psychology. The institute is also home to the Centre for Evaluation of neuropsychology and biofeedback Clinic and Certification Center which provides services and treatment to the public.
Institute for Physical Therapy:
The Institute offers a full-time three-year Doctor of Physical Therapy ( DPT ) program. The program is available for entry-level students as well as transient students who are already licensed physical therapists. A pre-physical therapy exists for undergraduates who wish to pursue the degree of DPT.
Law School:
The school is home to a Aba accredited JD schedule and operate two campuses, Wilmington, Delaware and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Accredited by NLN, the school has a bachelor(BSN), master (MSN) and doctorate(DNSc)program in care. A part-time, or even a weekend BSN program and accelerated programs for RNs are also available.
University College:
The University College serves students of undergraduate part-time adult and offers licenses and the associated. Classes are held during the evenings or on weekends and focus primarily on professional sectors such as health care systems, business, education and information. The university also includes Institute of Osher Lifelong Learning which provides continuing education classes for adults removed.
